A Milestone in Democratic Practice

The Syrian British Professionals Network (SBPN) proudly announces the successful completion of its first internal elections to appoint Sector Leaders and their Assistants. Held from 18 to 21 May 2025, the elections witnessed strong participation from members across Syria and the global Syrian professional community.

This electoral process represents one of the earliest structured democratic exercises within an independent Syrian civil body in the post-liberation period. It demonstrates SBPN’s commitment to fostering meaningful participation and authentic professional representation among Syrian experts.

Transparent and Inclusive Electoral Process

The elections were conducted transparently and in accordance with clear procedural standards, ensuring fairness, inclusivity, and accountability throughout the process.

A New Institutional Phase Begins

SBPN affirms that this milestone marks the beginning of a structured institutional phase, now led by elected professionals across various specialist sectors, individuals who truly represent the voice and aspirations of Syrian’s professional community.

Upcoming Coordination Meeting

At this stage, SBPN is preparing to convene an urgent coordination meeting with the elected Sector Leaders and their Assistants. This meeting will address the formal handover of responsibilities, alignment of visions, and prioritisation of upcoming activities, ahead of launching broader engagements with all network members and the operational rollout of specialist teams.

Expanding Representative Base

The network further notes that this democratic step has significantly broadened its representative base. SBPN now proudly represents over 400 verified Syrian professionals, across multiple sectors, all united by a common vision of building a professional, independent, and collaborative civil model for Syria’s future.
